William Bill Blakely

  William Maxwell “Bill” Blakely, 88, resident of Abbeville Nursing Home widower of Doris Garrett Blakely passed away Tuesday October 29, 2019 at Abbeville Area Medical Center.

  Born in Simpsonville, SC he was a son of the late William Fredrick Blakely and Lola Maxwell Blakely.

  Bill was a 1954 graduate of Clemson University with a Major in Textiles. He was a retired Plant Manager of Rocky River Mills for over 30 years. Bill was an active member of Main St. United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir, was a member of the Finance Committee, former President of Methodist Men, and was a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. He enjoyed going to Clemson football games and was an avid Clemson Tiger fan.

  Survivors include: two sons: Fred Blakely of the home and Russell Blakely (Tracie) of Chattanooga, TN; one sister Margaret Rogers of Camden, SC; three grandsons Nick, Tyler and Dustin Blakely; and two great grandchildren, Kingston and Kinsley of Ooltewah, TN.

He was preceded in death by a son Danny Blakely.

  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday Nov. 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Main St. United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Arant officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon at the church prior to services.

  The family would like to express their gratitude to the Staff and Doctors at Abbeville Nursing Home for the love and support given to Bill.
