William "Bill" Henry Barksdale

William Henry "Bill" Barksdale, 83, resident of 397 Hwy. 28 South, husband of Emogene
Sanders Barksdale, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at Self Regional Medical Center
in Greenwood, SC.

Born on Gray Court, SC, he was a son of the late Thomas Walter Barksdale, Sr. and Maude Bolt Barksdale.

Bill was a graduate of Clemson University, the Class of 1956. He was also a United States Army veteran having served during World War II. Bill was a retired Federal employee having served as the County Director of ASCS for over 30 years. He was a faithful member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church having taught the Men's Sunday School Class for many years. He was a former Deacon and was also an Elder Emeritus of the church. He also served as the Superintendent of the church cemetery for many years.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years Emogene Sanders Barksdale of the home; 2
daughters, Sandra Jean Barksdale of the home and Linda Lawton and her husband, John, of
Abbeville, SC; 1 brother, Thomas Walter Barksdale, Jr. of Gray Court, SC; 1 sister,
Aileen Cabler of Spartanburg, SC; 2 granddaughters, Courtney Jean Lawton and Haley Beth Lawton; a number of nieces and nephews and his faithful companion Fritz.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary Zeagler and Phyllis Lark.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday Feb. 13, 2011 at 3:00 PM in Lebanon Presbyterian Church with the Rev.'s Dan Smyth and Arnold Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home 397 Hwy. 28 South Abbeville, SC.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday afternoon prior to services in the church social hall at Lebanon Presbyterian Church.
