Wanda Lewis Sherard

Wanda Ann Lewis Sherard, 61, resident of 66 Turtle Point, Lake Secession, wife of S. Michael Sherard, passed away Saturday, July 23rd at her home.

She was born September 24, 1954 in Anderson County, SC, the daughter of Patricia Whitmire Lewis and the late Charlie Lewis.

Wanda was a graduate of Anderson University, Charleston Southern University and received her Masters in Education from Clemson University. She was a beloved teacher in Abbeville County elementary schools for 29 years during which time her warmth, beauty and love of life influenced so many lives. She was a member of Calhoun Falls Presbyterian Church. Wanda was an active member and past president of the Rose Garden Club of Abbeville. The beautiful gardens at her home exemplified her love of flowers. Her gorgeous and unique floral arrangements were just one example of her many talents. Their home at Edisto Beach was a place of enjoying quiet times together, but also entertaining family and friends filled those visits with fun and laughter, especially during Family Thanksgivings together.

She and Michael traveled extensively during their 39 years of marriage and enjoyed life to its fullest. Her smile was always a welcoming beacon to all. Her spirit was infectious. She was full of adventure. She was a bright carefree spirit, one of a kind with a heart of gold. She was a professionally trained Yoga Instructor and enjoyed her classes at the Yoga Spot in Abbeville. Wanda loved animals and throughout the years Fifi, Polo, Savannah and Simon were her joyful companions. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister and a dear friend. She was loved by many and her short life was made full by her husband Michael, family and many wonderful friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, S. Michael Sherard, mother, Patricia W. Lewis and husband Ken Copeland, brother, Michael Lewis (Vicki), mother in law, Dot Sherard, brothers in law Bobby L. Sherard (Kim), Stephen Sherard III (Trudy), and Kyle Sherard (Gigi), and a host of nieces and nephews, great nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and many extended family members and dear friends.
