Thomas "Tommy" Franklin Mabry, 62, formerly of 401 Orange St. resident of 54 Seminole Dr. Simpsonville son of the late J. Rivers Mabry, Sr. and Caroline Black Mabry passed away Saturday Feb. 1, 2014 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC.
A small part of Abbeville died early Saturday afternoon as long time Abbeville icon Tommy Mabry passed away. Tommy was well known as the young man with the warm and friendly smile riding his bright red bicycle. He was a frequent visitor to the Abbeville Court House offices as well as Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home and last but not least The Abbeville Fire Station where he was made an honorary fireman. The Mabry family would like to thank the citizens of Abbeville for their care and concern of Tommy through the years and during his recent illness.
Survivors include a sister Caroline Mabry King (Richard) of Simpsonville, SC; three brothers J. Rivers Mabry, Jr. (Jackie) of Abbeville, SC, Francis Mabry of Simpsonville, SC and Dexter Mabry of Simpsonville, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Feb. 5, 2014 at 1:00 PM in Abbeville Presbyterian Church with the Dr. Carol Strickland officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery with full Fireman's Honors.
