Teresa Schrimpf Skinner Nehme, wife of Joseph A. Nehme of 317 Leatherdale Road, Anderson and 69 Ashwood Lane, Lake Secession, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Abbeville, she was the daughter of Sarah Brown Schrimpf and the late George Herron Schrimpf.
She was a graduate of Winthrop College and received a master's degree from Clemson University. She retired after 30 years teaching in South Carolina from the Office Systems Technology Department of Tri-County Technical College. While teaching, she received the SC Business Education Teacher of the Year Award and the SC Vocational Education Teacher of the Year Award.
She was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, Anderson and the Lawton Mission Group. Tess was a member of the DAR and the Anderson County Humane Society where she served as past Treasurer and a Board Member. She was also a member of the Scarlett O'Hatters Red Hat Club.
Surviving are her mother, Sarah Brown Schrimpf; sister-in-law, Bonnie Bloom Schrimpf; nephews, Lawrence Allen Dial and his wife Carol, and daughter Janine; Lane Alex Dial and children, Michael, Brandon and Lane; James Fredric Schrimpf, Jr., and his wife Vicky and children, Cameron Elizabeth and Reeves; John Herron Schrimpf and his wife Caroline and son Lucas; and niece Amy Schrimpf Martin and her husband Evan and daughters Grace and Anna.
Tess was preceded in death by her brother, James Fredric Schrimpf, Sr., her sister, Sarah Schrimpf Dial, and her brother-in-law Larry Allen Dial.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 4 pm at Flat Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Hunsinger officiating.
The family is at the home of her mother, Mrs. Sarah Brown Schrimpf 401 Greenville St. Abbeville and will receive friends Friday, July 25, 2008 at Flat Rock Baptist Church from 3-4 pm prior to services.
