Susan Horton McCurry

Susan Horton McCurry, 55, resident of 1629 Rock Hill Rd. wife of Dale R. McCurry passed away Sunday Aug. 30, 2009 at her home.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC she was a daughter of William "Bill" Horton and Frances Dansby Horton.

Susan started he career in the insurance business working at Morse-Wier Insurance Agency. She later owned the Gilliam Insurance Agency. Upon the selling of her agency she entered into manufacturing having worked for Flexible Technologies and also Greenwood Plating. She also had her own Tax Preparation Business. She was of the Baptist faith. Susan will be remembered for her courageous 5 year battle with cancer. She died peacefully today with her loving family by her side.

Survivors include her husband of the home Dale R. McCurry; 2 daughters Robin Raynor and her husband Stuart of Inman, SC and Krista Manning and her husband Jamie of Calhoun Falls, SC; her parents Bill and Frances Dansby Horton of Calhoun Falls, SC; 1 brother Billy Horton and his wife Anne of Abbeville, SC; 2 sisters Lisa Allen and her husband Frankie of Columbus, NC and Carol Cartledge and her husband Mark of Elberton, Georgia: 5 grandchildren twins Robert and Seth Raynor and Thomas Raynor, Erin and Ethan Manning. Also a number of special nieces and nephews and her beloved dog "BANDIT".

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday Sept. 1, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Chandler Chapel of Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ellison officiating; The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home 1629 Rock Hill Rd.

The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
