Guestbook

Miss Lampton was always so sweet and patient and I loved having her as a teacher. One of my nicest memories is when I had my Senior Recital and she made her Hershey Bar pies for my reception. It's been 28 years but I still use her recipe. They were the best and so was she. She'll be greatly missed.

Shirley has been a wonderful friend for the past 51 years. Her kind, loving and gentle spirit was such a part of our camp reunion group which had been getting together for the past 30 years. She was always willing to listen or lend a helping hand to everyone. She will always have a place in my book of treasured friendships. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. She will truly be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

I have known Shirley since my summers as a camper at Rockbrook Camp in the 1950's. What a special person. She was always so sweet and patient with us as she led the choir or taught a sport. We have had a little camp reunion every summer for at least 30 years, and Shirley was a very major part of our group. We shall truly miss her.

I was saddened by Ms. Lampton's passing. I have fond memories of her at Erskine. She was an excellent musician and was quite patient with those of us who needed just a little more encouragement. May God be with you in this most difficult time.

For all of us who knew Shirley at camp, she embodied "the sprit of Rockbrook, the spirit of God." Shirley has been an important part of my life since I met her at camp in 1959. "I am one of you forever," wrote former NC Poet Laureate Fred Chappell. Shirley's kind and gentle spirit will continue to be part of my life always.

Miss Lampton was one of my teachers at Erskine College. The Due West ARP Church adopted college students, and Miss Lampton adopted me during my four years at Erskine and I shall always the Hershey Bar Pies she made for me. She was a wonderful teacher and dear person!

Shirley was our neighbor and a dear friend of my parents for many years. During my parents' illnesses, she was always offering to help and her love & concern for her neighbors was a priority with her. She was kind, considerate, and very appreciative of help from others in her later years. She always took time to thank them and let them know how much she appreciated the assistance. Shirley's sweetness and concern for others will be her legacy and we will surely miss her and think of her often.

Mrs. Lampton was a fantastic piano teacher and a wonderful person. I was only able to study with her for my last few years of high school, but her brilliant instruction was essential to my preparation for studying music at the college level. While studying at Erskine, I saw Mrs. Lamption frequently at the Due West ARP church and events related to the retirement home. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
