Sarah Elizabeth McCord Morris

Sarah Elizabeth McCord Morris, 76, resident of 298 Morris Rd., wife of John Luther Morris, passed away Friday Jan. 2, 2009 at The Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Abbeville, SC she was a daughter of the late William Joseph and Louise Hammond McCord.

Mrs. Morris was a homemaker and attended the Church of God. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister to her loving family. She will be sorely missed by her caring family and many friends.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 59 years, John Luther Morris, of the home; 3 daughters, Brenda Gail Breit and her husband Michael of Phoenix, Arizona. Wilma Jean Wilkie and her husband Steve of Abbeville, SC and Donna Ardell Bailey and her husband Reid of Abbeville, SC; 2 sons, John Oliver Morris and his wife Dianne of Abbeville, SC and Tommy Morris and his wife Gayle of Abbeville, SC; 1 sister, Brenda Pruitt of Abbeville, SC; 2 brothers, Ernest McCord of Greenwood, SC and Joe McCord of Abbeville, SC; 8 grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister Minnie Louise Taylor and brothers James Ramsey, William Franklin and Thomas Eugene McCord. She was also preceded by a daughter Merri Ann Morris.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Jan. 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Chandler Chapel in Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tye Sorrow officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.

Mrs. Morris is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM Wednesday afternoon prior to services.

The family is at the home of her daughter Mr. & Mrs. Steve Wilkie 110 Moore St. Abbeville, SC 29620.
