Samuel E. Argo, 80, resident of 2448 Hwy. 20 husband of Dorothy "Dot" Simpson Argo passed away Wednesday June 29, 2011 at Hospice of the Piedmont, Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.
Born in Abbeville Co. SC he was a son of the late Rev. Carthy Argo and Minnie Martin Argo.
Sam served his country as a United States Marine. He was a retired Design Supervisor with Milliken Textiles with over 51 years of service. Sam was a loyal and devoted member of the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church. He also served as a Deacon of the church for many years and was also a Sunday school teacher in the church. Sam will be remembered as a loving husband, father, bother and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Survivors are: His beloved wife of 61 years Dorothy Simpson Argo of the home; 2 sons Kim E. Argo and Buddy Argo both of Abbeville, SC; 1 daughter B.J. Argo of Honea Path, SC; 1 brother Rev. Marion Argo and his wife Pat of Abbeville, SC; 1 sister Verbielee Harrison of Abbeville, SC; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Willie Avant Argo.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday July 1, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Ray Massey officiating. The burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery with military honors. The family is at 317 Noble Drive Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 PM Thursday evening at the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
