Ronald "Ron" Jodean Smith

Ronald J. "Ron" Smith, 67, of 51 Oak Drive died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at his home.

Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Marion Garfield and Lou Adkins Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from Flexiable Technologies with 30 years of service. He was as charter member of the Sharon Rural Fire Department. He was one of the main organizers when the station was begun. He was also a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are widow, Dorothy Whitten Smith of the home; daughters, Brenda B. Grant and Cindy B. Price, both of Abbeville; son, Allen B. Bowie of Abbeville; sisters, Vivian S. Wilson of Irmo, and Lynn S. Chimento of Metairie, La.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Long Cane Cemetery in Abbeville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home.

The family suggests memorials be made to Lebanon Presbyterian Church, 698 Mount Carmel Road, Abbeville, S.C. 29620 or to the charity of one's choice.
