Robert George Clark, 76, resident of Abbeville, SC, formerly of Gresham, Oregon, died on July 29, 2019 at AnMed Medical Center after a long battle from cancer, his wife Anita was by his side.

Robert was born on May 11, 1943 in Ada, Oklahoma a son of the late George Jay Clark and Margaret Estelle Bowen.

Robert honorably served his country in the US Navy from 1966 to 1970 with a tour in Vietnam as a Navy combat corps man, with the Marines and Navy Seals, honorably discharged from active duty in 1970 while serving in the Navy Reserves from 1970 to 1975. Robert also was awarded a Silver Star and Bronze Star for his tour in Vietnam. He also was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He received two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Biology 1961 and Dental Hygiene 2005, and two Associated Degrees in Dental Hygiene 1973 and a Denturist 1981. He practiced dental Hygiene and as a Denturist in Public Health Dentistry from Multhonah County Oregon until he retired in 2005 and relocated to Abbeville, SC with his wife Anita of 36 years. He was also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Main St. United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: His beloved wife Anita Gustafson Clark of the home; a son Robert Bowen Clark and his wife of Portland, Oregon; two daughters Monica Rae Clark of Long View, Washington and Christina Estelle Lillian Clark-Carter and husband Jason of Portland, Oregon; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Robert’s life will be conducted Monday Aug. 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 Monday morning prior to services.
