Red Tolbert Martin

Red Tolbert Martin, 67, resident of Greenville, formerly of Abbeville, passed away Monday, Sept 2, 2013 at Glorified Health Care in Greenville.

Born in Abbeville, SC, he was the son of the late John Campbell Martin, Sr. and the late Betty Tolbert Martin.

Red worked at Central Office Installing with Western Electric and was a Vietnam Navy Veteran, having joined at the age of 17, two weeks after his high school graduation. He served 3 years patrolling the Mediterranean Sea during the Vietnam era.

Survivors include his son, Red Tolbert Martin, Jr. and his wife Debbie and 2 granddaughters, Kelley and Kimberly; 2 brothers, John C. Martin, Jr. and his wife, Connie; and Joel Martin and wife, Rosa Lee. Red is also survived by a special cousin, Grace Warner.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 5 at 4:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel of Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Tolbert/Morton Cemetery in Abbeville with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 3:45 PM prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
