Rayford Ernest Link, 86, formerly of 100 Mt. Carmel Rd. widower of Sybil Knight Hood Link passed away Friday April 18, 2008 at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.
Born in Abbeville Co. SC he was a son of the late George Emma and Mattie Lou Pursley Link.
Rayford was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a retired textile employee having worked many years with Milliken Textiles before retiring with Bloomsburg Mills. He was a mason and a member of the Clinton Lodge #3 AFM. He was a loyal member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church where he was also a member of the Men's Sunday School Class and The Pioneer's Senior Citizen Group of the church.
Survivors include his daughter Wanda Scott of Greer, SC; a step-daughter Bridgette Thompson of Anderson, SC; a brother George Link and his wife Marian of Clinton, SC; 2 sisters Madge Adams and her husband Aubrey of Greenwood, SC and Grace Davis of Abbeville, SC; Sister-In-Law Cheryl Link of Greenwood, SC; 2 step-grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Bill Link and sisters Ovelle Price and Jean Jones; 2 brothers-in-laws John Price and Carl Davis.
Rayford was twice married first to the late Betty Gibert Link.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday April 20, 2008 at 3:00 PM at The Chandler Chapel of Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
Rayford is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday afternoon prior to services. The family is at the home of his sister Mrs. Grace Davis 1307 N. Main St. Abbeville, SC.
