Phyllis "Pidgie" Greene DuBose

Phyllis "Pidgie" Greene DuBose, 80, resident of 106 Pineview St. wife of Thomas "Alex" DuBose passed away peacefully Wednesday July 13, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Abbeville, SC she was a daughter of the late William Pinckney Greene, Jr. and Phyllis Yarborough Greene.

She was known affectionately by her friends and family as" Pidgie". Pidgie was a retired social worker and schoolteacher having taught in the Abbeville County School District for over 20 years. Mrs. DuBose, as she was known by many of her former students, touched many lives in different ways throughout the Abbeville Community. She also enjoyed playing golf and spending time outdoors. Pidgie was an avid and diehard Abbeville Panther fan. She could be heard every Friday night ringing her cowbell in support of the Panthers. She loved her family deeply and was especially proud of each of her children and grandchildren for their many accomplishments. The love of her life was her devoted husband of 56 years, Alex. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and will be sorely missed by her loving family and her many friends.

Survivors include her beloved husband Thomas Alexander DuBose, Jr. of the home; four daughters Mary Greene Thomasson (Mike) of Abbeville, SC, Mellie Driver (Carey) of Abbeville, SC, Libby Lippincott (Bryan) of Marietta, Georgia and Martha Jane Badillo of Abbeville, SC; a son Tad DuBose of Abbeville, SC; a brother William Pinckney "Pink" Greene, III of Folly Beach, SC; eleven grandchildren Mary Beth Boswell (Scotty), Taylor Driver, Allie Thomasson, Zach Lippincott, Ben Thomasson, Dubie DuBose, Nick Lippincott, Emily Lippincott, William Badillo, GraceAnn Dubose and Cayden Badillo.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday July 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jason Wilson officiating. The burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.

The AHS Football Team and Coaches will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at their home 106 Pineview St. on Friday July 15th from 1:00 until 7:00 PM.
