Oscar Lee New

Oscar Lee New, 79, of Abbeville, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in Richland Memorial Hospital.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served five years in the South Pacific, and he was of the Holiness faith.

Surviving are brother, Rev. Darrell New of Abbeville; and two sisters, Evelyn White of Anderson and Ruth Simpson of Abbeville.

He was the son of the late Miller B. and Clarkie Scott New.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Friday from Melrose Cemetery by the Rev. Bobby Cutter officiating.

The family is at the home of Rev. Darrell New, 212 Langley St., Abbeville, where the family will receive friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to New Life Worship Center, 104 Chestnut St., Abbeville, S.C. 29620.

Ramey Funeral Home, Saluda, is in charge of arrangements.
