Olin "Head" D. Johnston Henderson

Olin D. Johnston "Head" Henderson, 74, resident of 215 Ellis Ave husband of Lona
Richey Henderson passed away Saturday June 26, 2010 at the Hospice House in
Greenwood, SC.

Born in Abbeville, SC he was a son of the late Tom F. Henderson and Mary Going

Head was a United States Navy veteran. He was a retired employee of Abbeville County
with the Abbeville Co. Prison Farm and Pirelli Cable Co. He was also a mason and a
member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #3 AFM. Head was fondly remembered for his many
years of coaching Little League football and Pony League baseball. He was an active
member of Congregational Holiness Church. He will be sadly missed by his loving
family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife Lona Richey Henderson of Abbeville, SC; 1 son Olin D. "Dee"
Henderson, Jr. of Abbeville, SC; 2 brothers Rev. Jack Henderson of Abbeville, SC and
Rev. Charles Henderson of Belton, SC; 3 sisters Mary Tiller of Abbeville, SC, Betty
Stewart of Greenwood, SC and Frances Carpenter of Painesville, Ohio; 2 grandchildren
Ashley Giles and her husband Brandon and Tanner Henderson; and his beloved little
dog "Bud".

He was preceded in death by 5 brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Congregational
Holiness Church with the Rev. Tye Sorrow officiating. The burial will follow in Long
Cane Cemetery with Military Honors.

His body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family received friends
from 6:00 until 7:30 PM Sunday evening. The family is at the home of his son Dee
Henderson 208 Hunter St. Abbeville, SC.

Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Henderson to Hospice of the Piedmont 408 West Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Congregational Holiness Church 921 South
Main St. Abbeville, SC 29620.

Lona and Dee, We always enjoyed our time together with Olin. He was generous and kind to those he met, especially those of his family. Aunt Lona & Dee, I will miss Olin very much. He was so good to us when we were all growing up and visiting South Carolina. To Aunt Betty, Aunt Mary, Uncle Jack, Uncle Charles and mom, your brother will be missed by all who came in contact with him. May God give you peace at the time.

Lona & Dee, I will never forget Olin. He was a great man. I have a lot of good childhood memories of Hunter St. May God Comfort you @ this time. Olin & Skeeter are partying in Heaven and watching over us.
