Norman Rufus Sorrow

Norman Rufus Sorrow, 89, resident of 310 Perry St., husband of Margaret King Sorrow passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at Abbeville Area Medical Center.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC he, was a son of the late Fletcher D. Sorrow and Nellie Norman Sorrow.

Norman was a United States World War II Army veteran. His working career spanned over 48 years as an Engineer with the CSX Railroad until retirement. Norman had a deep religious devotion to God and his church. He was a very faithful and loyal member of the Congregational Holiness Church for over 50 years and was a Deacon and Sunday school teacher for over 45 years. He will be remembered as a very loving and dedicated husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be sorely missed by his loving family and many friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Margaret King Sorrow of the home; 3 sons, Norman Fletcher Sorrow and his wife, Linda, of Abbeville, SC, Paul Terry Sorrow and his wife, Lynn, of Avon Lake, Ohio and Mark Sorrow and wife, Martha, of Greenwood, SC; 1 daughter, Sherry S. Snipes and her husband, Bennie, of Abbeville, SC; 1 sister, Flossie Gilmer of Abbeville, SC; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Aug. 1, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Congregational Holiness Church with the Reverend's Tye Sorrow and Marion Argo officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at Abbeville Congregational Holiness Church prior to services. The family is at the home 310 Perry St. Abbeville, SC.
