Nellie Edwards Bruce

Nellie Edwards Bruce, 84, of Camden, formerly of Abbeville, died Sunday June 17, 2012. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Joe Edwards and Pearl Rogers Edwards.

She was a graduate of Abbeville High School and Lander College. Mrs. Bruce was a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Abbeville. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Jack Woolbright Sunday School Class and the Agape Circle. She was a former Sunday School teacher and served on the Administrative Board and as a church trustee at Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Joe T. Bruce of Camden; her son Joseph T. Bruce, Jr. of Camden; her daughter Martha Bruce, and family friend, Peggy Spivey, of Camden; and her brother and sister-in-law, Professor and Mrs. Calvin R. Edwards of Brevard, NC.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Friday morning in Melrose Cemetery with Rev. Wayman Coleman III officiating.
