Mildred White Wier

Mildred White Wier, 77, resident of 100 Pineview St., widow of Van Noy Wier, Jr., died Friday , June 2, 2006 at The Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.

Born July 4, 1928 in Troy, SC she was a daughter of the late J. Frank and Bertha Langley White.

She was a graduate of Erskine College, having received her BA Degree in Education. She was a retired school teacher with Abbeville School District #60 with over 30 years of service. She was also a very active member of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by: 1 daughter, Amanda Wier Sides and son-in-law Daniel of Taylors, SC; 2 sons, Van Noy Wier, III and daughter-in-law Deborah of Crawford, GA and Joel Smith Wier and daughter-in-law Tomi of Greenville, SC; and grandchildren Jennifer and Jonathan Sides, Lauri Ann and Taylor Brooks, and Jana and Will Wier, 2 sister-in-laws, Sue F. White and Fannie C. White both of Troy, SC.
She was the last member of her immediate family.

She was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Pearle W. Smith, Ruby W. McConnell, Isabelle W. Trexler, Louise W. Bowen, Ada W. Dukes, and 2 brothers, Joe F. White, Jr., and Alfred L. White.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 5, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Abbeville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Bush and Rev. Dr. Randall Kowalski officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.

The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon 12:30 until 1:30 in the Telford Parlor of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church prior to services. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 PM prior to services. The family is at the home 100 Pineview St. Abbeville, SC.
