Michael "Sarge" Powell

Michael 'Sarge' Powell, 66, resident of 305 Washington St. passed away Aug. 10, 2011 at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC he was a son of the late Rufus B. Powell and Helen Simpson Powell.

Sarge was a retired textile employee with Milliken and Bloomsburg Mills. He also worked at the Abbeville Rug Barn. Sarge also served 23 years with the National Guard. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Sarge also enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to the local jockey lots and was very faithful to his loving dogs Sissy and Peaches.

Survivors include his sister Patricia Thomasson of Abbeville, SC; a niece Denise Ashley and a nephew Bobby Thomasson both of Abbeville, SC.

All services will be private.

The family is at the home of his sister Ms. Patricia Thomasson 309 Brooks St. Abbeville, SC.
