Melvin "Gene" Eugene Rousey

Melvin "Gene" Rousey, 74, resident of 5717 Hwy. 25 North formerly of Calhoun Falls, SC husband of Dorothy Rousey passed away Wednesday Sept. 4, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Elberton, Georgia he was a son of the late Mel Rousey and the late Pauline Shaw Rousey.

Gene was a retired textile fixer with Westpoint-Pepperell Industries with many years of service. Gene was known as a handyman who enjoyed spending time outdoors working on lawnmowers and tractors and many other things which he could fix. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kind and caring nature.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years Dorothy Dutton Rousey of the home; 3 sons Danny Rousey of Iva, SC, Dale Rousey (Denise) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Dennis Rousey (Kelley) of Abbeville, SC; 2 daughters Kathy Hill (Richard) of Ware Shoals, SC and Melissa Waters (Heath) of Abbeville, SC; 4 brothers Wendell Rousey of Hartwell, Georgia, Paul Rousey of Myrtle Beach, SC, James Rousey and Roger Rousey both of Iva, SC; 2 sisters Jeanette Fowler of Hartwell, Georgia and Frances Guest of Elberton, Georgia; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Rousey; a granddaughter, Jessica Hope Rousey, and siblings, Carolyn Phillips, Waydene Border and J.W. Rousey.
