Melton "Puddin" Dennis Harrison

Melton Dennis "Puddin" Harrison, 70, resident of 1107 Island Ford Rd., husband of Pat Mitchell Harrison, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC with his loving family by his side.

Born in Greenwood, SC, he was a son of the late Wesley Harrison and Bertha Mae Smith Harrison.

Puddin was a retired Machinist and Welder with Greenwood Plating after many years of service. Puddin loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer playing every chance he got. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and being with his friends. He was a loyal member of Sharon United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees within the church. Puddin was a devoted family man and loved his family dearly but the joy and apple of his eye was his grandson Evan. He thoroughly enjoyed watching Evan play ball and followed his travel team to all their games. Puddin also had a deep spiritual conviction and loved his Lord and church dearly. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his many friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife Pat Mitchell Harrison of the home; 2 daughters, Patti H. Bridges and her husband, Frankie, of Princeton, SC and Melanie H. Hallman of Greenwood, SC; a grandson, Evan Harrison Bridges.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Buddy Harrison.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday March 2, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev.'s Frank McCoy and Bill Ellison officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home prior to services. The family is at the home 1107 Island Ford Rd. Abbeville, SC.

Memorials in memory of Puddin may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Abbeville Unit PO Box 566 Due West, SC 29639 or to Hospice of the Piedmont 408 West Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646.

Patti, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I don't know if I ever met him or not but certainly knew him as my friend's father. Will be thinking about all of you and remembering you in my prayers. Yes, another great father (parent) is now in heaven but...we will all meet up again oe day.

I know you are sad over Puddin's passing and you will miss him. Just remember that though his body is dead his spirit lives on through Christ Jesus our Lord. Our goal now is to live such a life that we can one day join them and live with God for eternity.
