Mary Alice Boyd Hagen, 88, resident of Abbeville Nursing Home formerly of 505 Sunset Drive widow of Harper Hagen passed away Monday Feb. 6, 2017 at the nursing home.
Born July 9, 1928 in Abbeville, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Carlton Boyd and Mary Clinkscales Boyd.
Mary Alice retired as owner and operator of Hagen's grocery where she and her late husband Harper worked for many years. She was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for a number of years. She was also a volunteer with Abbeville Meals on Wheels. She had a love for trains as many of her family members where trainmen. Mary Alice will be remembered for her kind and caring demeanor.
Survivors include two daughters Gina. H. Stone (Frankie) of Abbeville, SC and Mary Carlton Hurt (Greg) of North Augusta, SC; five grandchildren Alison Driggers, Casey Stone, Matthew Hagen, Brittany Hurt and Bryan Hurt; four great-grandchildren Stone Driggers, Cole Driggers, Harper Stone and Frankie Stone.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harper Hagen, a son Steve Hagen and a grandson Josh Hagen.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Feb. 8, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. John Keith officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home of her daughter Mr. & Mrs. Frankie Stone 34 Hwy. 20 Abbeville, SC 29620.
The family will receive friends Wednesday Feb. 8, 2017 from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at the funeral home prior to services.
