Mary "Major" Carolyn Farmer

Mary "Major" Bray Farmer, 89, resident of 110 Calhoun St., widow of Jack D. Farmer, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Crawford, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Leonard Bray and Mattie Mae Hammond Bray.

Mary was a retired owner and operator, along with her late husband Jack, of Farmers Dry Cleaners for over 53 years. She was also a member of the Eugene Harrison Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loyal and faithful member of Abbeville First Baptist Church for over 60 years. She will be remembered for her kind and caring demeanor and her love for her family.

Survivors include 2 sons Travis Farmer and his wife, Pat, of Seneca, SC and Len Farmer of Grovetown, Georgia; 2 grandchildren Leslie Farmer and Sean Farmer and his wife, Anna, all of Seneca, SC; 2 great-grandchildren Austin and Ava.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Abbeville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Wiggins officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM Friday afternoon at the Family Life Center of the Abbeville First Baptist Church prior to services.
