Mary Emma Hendrix Beckham

November 22, 1927 — October 14, 2008

Mary Emma Hendrix Beckham, 80, resident of Due West Retirement Center wife of Rev. Roy Beckham died Tuesday Oct. 14, at her home.

She was born in 1927, a graduate of Heath Springs High School and Winthrop College. After graduation she taught school at Kershaw, Iva and Donalds, SC. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker for her minister husband and their children. She was a beloved leader and teacher in churches where her husband served as well as the Women's Work in the Presbytery and Synod. Mrs. Beckham was a member of the Pleasant Hill ARP Church in Heath Springs, SC.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years Rev. Roy E. Beckham by 2 daughters Ann B. Gainey and Martha B. Hinson; a son Earl R. Beckham and their spouses and 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers Walter H. Hendrix and Grady H. Hendrix; a step-sister Margurite H. Neal and a step-brother Wade Hunter.

A memorial service will be held Saturday Oct. 18, 2008 at 4:00 PM in the Neal Kennedy Moore Dining Room at the Due West Retirement Center with the Rev. Calvin Draffin officiating and at 3:00 PM Sunday Oct. 19, 2008 at the Pleasant Hill ARP Church in Heath Springs, SC with the Rev. Dr. James C. Barker and Rev. Eric McLachlan officiating.
