Sylvia “Marlene” Lollis Hawthorne, 84, widow of the late John “Johnny” Hawthorne, resident of Winona Church Road, entered into rest on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born on July 6, 1940, in Greenville County to the late Raymond Lollis and the late Lucy Pearson Hughes. She was a graduate of Dixie High School, as well as Drones Business School of Greenville. A lifelong homemaker, she was a housewife, mother, and caregiver to many.

She was a member of Winona Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two sons, John Mark Hawthorne (Jean) and Michael P. Hawthorne (Alice) all of Donalds; her brother, David Hughes (Molly) of Donalds; her grandchildren, Kelly Hawthorne Smith (Joseph) of Honea Path, Tonya Hawthorne Saylors (Justin) of Bowersville, Ga., Codi Hawthorne Owens (Michael) of Donalds; 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM from the Chandler Chapel of the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family is at their respective homes.
