Lucile Eliza Dunlap Turman, 100, resident of Abbeville Nursing Home, widow of Lewis Capus Turman passed away Tuesday May 12, 2009 at the nursing home.
Born in Westminster, SC, she was a daughter of the late John Fletcher and Sally Elizabeth Adams Dunlap.
Mrs. Turman was a retired seamstress with the Abbeville Shirt Plant. She was a faithful member of Abbeville First Baptist Church where she was also the oldest living member. Mama Cile, as she was affectionately known by her loving family, will be sorely missed by them and her many friends.
Survivors include her daughter Frances McElrath of Abbeville, SC; a son Robert L. Turman and his wife Emma of Abbeville, SC; 2 sisters Winifred Henderson of Columbia, SC and Guynelle Henderson of McCormick, SC; 4 grandchildren Dianne Fleming, Debbie Dewey, Cecelia Terry and Robbie McElrath.; 3 great-grandchildren Eric Marmon, Daniel McElrath, Jeffery Latham; 3 great-great grandchildren David, Tori and McKenzie Marmon.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday May 14, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Reiny Koschel officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
Mrs. Turman is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Thursday afternoon prior to services. The family is at the home of her daughter Frances McElrath 1160 Old Douglas Mill Rd. Abbeville, SC.
