Louie Alexander Richey

November 9, 1923 — December 5, 2008

Louie Richey, Sr.,85, resident of 488 Hwy. 185 South widower of Earline Slay Richey passed away Friday Dec. 5, 2008 at Abbeville Area Medical Center.

Born in Antreville, SC he was a son of the late William A. and Minnie Winona Bell Richey.

Mr. Richey was a United States Army veteran. He retired from the Maintenance Dept. of Greenwood Mills with over 45 years of service. Upon retirement he worked in Plant Security. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He was also a mason and a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge # 3 AFM. Mr. Richey will be remembered as a loving family man whom will be missed by his entire family and his many friends.

Survivors include 2 sons, Louie Richey, Jr. and his wife Elaine of the home, Roger Richey of Hodges, SC; 1 daughter Ann Hannigan and her husband John of Mt. Carbon, West Virginia; 1 sister Vera Fellows of Anderson, SC; 7 grandchildren Amy Richey, Brence Richey and his wife Bridgette, Heather Richey, Tyler Richey, John Hannigan and his wife Carolyn, Tabitha Martin and her husband Mike and Scotty Hannigan and his wife Sammi; 4 great-grandchildren Brianna, Shawn, Rayne and Danika.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday Dec. 8, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Bowling officiating. Entombment will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum with military and Masonic rites. The family is at the home 488 Hwy. 185 Donalds, SC.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Richey, Brence Richey, John Hannigan, Scotty Hannigan, Greg Slay, Mike Slay and Robbie Davis.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association of SC 2711 Middleburg Dr., Kittrell Center, Suite 312 Columbia, SC 29204.
