Leila Bowie Blanchett, 87, widow of the late Wayne Blanchett, resident of Marshall Ave., entered into rest Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at her residence.
Born on April 1, 1937, in Abbeville County to the late Neuffer and Sallie Holmes Bowie, she was a graduate of Abbeville High School and retired from Flexible Technologies. She was an avid dancer at the Lowndesville dance hall, she loved going to “the sale” at Norris Auction. You could also find Leila in the mountains.
Leila was a member of Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Abbeville Congregational Holiness Church.
She is survived by her brother, Wade Bowie and his wife Jewel of Abbeville; her great niece that was raised in the home, Katelyn Bowie Martin and husband Dylan of Abbeville whom she loved like her own daughter; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Billy Joe Campbell and her second husband, James Strawhorn.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 13th, at 11:00 AM from the Chandler Chapel of the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Dorsey officiating. Private burial will be held at a later time.
The family is at their respective homes.
