Kathryn Cooper Dillard Patton

December 10, 1917 — November 6, 2005

Kathryn Cooper Dillard Patton, 87, resident of Due West Retirement Center wife of Paul Patton died Sunday Nov. 6 at The Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Statham, Georgia she was a daughter of the late Herbert Alva and Grace Cooper Dillard.

Mrs. Patton was a retired newspaper columnist with over 25 years of service with the Winder, Georgia News and the Monticello News. She was awarded the annual Brumby Award as Newspaper Columnist of the Year in the State of Georgia. She was also very active with the Sue Kellogg Library of Stone Mt., Georgia. Mrs. Patton was also very active with the food bank in her local community. She also loved to do outdoor yard work and was a very avid gardener having raised many a beautiful flowers beds. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Winder, Georgia.

Survivors are: Her beloved husband Paul Patton of the Due West Retirement Center, son Edward E. Patton of Abbeville, SC, grandsons Brian Edward Patton Capt. U.S. Army and Thomas Samuel Patton a sophomore at Lander University in Greenwood, SC. She was preceded in death by a sister Martha (Jim) Dillard Fleming.

Memorial services will be conducted Sunday Nov. 20, 2005 at 2:00 PM from the First Baptist Church in Stone Mt. Georgia with the Dr. Dan Parker officiating.
