My Dearest Son, There are no words to express how much I miss you each and every day. Life is very different without your phone calls to my office. One of my fondest memories is walking through the door and hearing you say, "How was your day, Mom?" Your kind words kept my spirits uplifted. And I long to hear your laughter and see your pretty blonde curls. I was so proud of all of your accomplishments throughout life, but most proud of the Bible scholar you became in just a few short years. Josh, you just cannot imagine the impact that you with those on earth. You touched so many lives in so many wonderful ways. I know Keny-Boo and the rest of your animal friends were delighted to see you waik through the pearly gates. On the days that are the saddest, I just try to remember that you are truly free and resting in the loving arms of Jesus. Your kind, gentle spirit and tender sweet heart will forever be a part of me. As Ami said at your funeral, God chose me to be your Mother. What a privilege and honor! All My Love Forever, Mama

I never got to know Josh as I was gone from Abbeville long before he was born, but I knew Steve when he was little and we played together on N Main St. I knew his grandparents Mary Alice & Harper, plus his great-grandparents as well. I'm sure he was a fine young man like the rest of his family. Our prayers will be with his entire family durning this time. James Marvin & Sandy 1 Thess 4:13-18

Linda, I can't remember now why I couldn't come to the funeral home, but I think I was going out of town. However, I just wanted you to know how precious Josh was to me. He was such a sweet child and I was truly sorry to hear about this. I can't imagine losing a child, but I grieve daily because Frank and I were unable to have any children. My sincerest sympathy. God's love and mine, Leesa F. Culbreth

Jean, Mac, & Linda, Words are not enough to say on the loss of your grandson and son. I remember Jean and Mac talking of Josh I felt like I knew him although I never met him. They were so proud of him, especially when he graduated from Lander. Please know I am thinking of you. Death is never easy on anyone. You just have to know that God is looking over you and will be there every step with you, whether good or bad. Remember the good memories because you know that is what Josh would want. Take it one day at a time and take the time to pray everyday. Sometimes there are no answers to your questions but we just have to trust in the Lord and know he has a plan for Josh now. I will be praying for all of you. Much Christian and personal love, De Lis Melton Polatty

At the start, Josh was a little reticent to lead us in our Disciple study last year. But, over time we learned that his inquisitive mind and loving respect for the views of others gave him a wonderful talent to help our small group in the study of God's word. He grew in confidence and his leadership ability was clearly blooming. We all came to admire him deeply, and I am proud to have known better my brother in Christ through the 32 weeks of study we shared. I have the peace of having shared with him his deep Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and having prayed with him often during and after the classes. While it is not clear to me why God would take him so early when he had so much ahead of him, I have the confidence that God has now welcomed him into the Kingdom with open arms -saying: "Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matthew 25:21).
