John Albert Patterson

John Albert Patterson, 72, resident of 504 Maple St. husband of Marie McCurry Patterson passed away Saturday Sept. 6, 2008 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC, he was a son of the late James Thomas and Emma Ellis Patterson.

John Albert was a US States Army veteran during the Korean Conflict. He started his career in textiles and later became a Fire Warden with the SC Dept of Forestry Commission where he retired with over twenty years of service. John Albert shared many good times and lots of fellowship with his buddies Allen Patterson, Chris Talbert, Shane Page and Grady Patterson down at Allen Patterson's Shop. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family, many friends and beloved and devoted dog Hank.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years Marie McCurry Patterson of the home; 3 sons Russell Patterson and his wife Diane; Derek Patterson; and Chris Patterson and his wife Joy all of Abbeville, SC; 1 brother Asberry Patterson and his wife Beckie of Greenwood, SC; a sister-in-law Frances Patterson of Calhoun Falls, SC; a brother-in-law Jack McCurry of Abbeville, SC; and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Harold, Tom and Teddy Patterson and a sister Beulah Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday Sept. 9, 2008 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.

The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening. The family is at the home 504 Maple St. Abbeville.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne, Jerry and Dennis Patterson, Tom Imhof, Eric and Nickolas Patterson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chunk, Grady and Jeb Patterson, Chris Talbert, Shane Page, Jimmy Hill, Pat Hill, Jimmy Finley and Mike Brown.

Memorials may be made in memory of John Albert to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646.
