John "Tennessee" Luther Morris

John L. 'Tennessee' Morris, 80, resident of 298 Morris Rd. widower of Sarah McCord Morris died peacefully Friday Oct. 23, 2009 with his loving family by his side at home.

Born in Sherwood, Tennessee he was a son of the late Luther and Dona Mae Morris.

He was a retired textile employee with the Milliken Textile Plant with over 41 years of service. He attended the Church of God. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved doing both. He also found much joy in farming. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Survivors include 3 daughters Brenda Gail Breit and her husband Michael of Phoenix, AZ, Wilma Jean Wilkie and her husband Steve of Abbeville, SC and Donna Ardell Bailey and her husband Reid of Abbeville, SC; 2 sons John Oliver Morris and his wife Dianne and Tommy Morris and his wife Gayle both of Abbeville, SC; 3 sisters Helen Bridges of Greenwood, Martha Morris of Abbeville, SC and Polly McCord of Abbeville, SC; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Merrie Anne Morris; brothers Jimmy, Charles, William Burhl, Bill and Thomas Morris; a sister Verna Mobley.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday Oct. 25, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tye Sorrow officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home 298 Morris Rd. Abbeville, SC.

The body is at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM Sunday afternoon prior to services.
