James "Jim" Monroe Simpson

April 9, 1929 — April 24, 2006

James Monroe "Jim" Simpson, Jr., 77, resident of 27 Watts Rd. husband of Betty Davis Buffington Simpson died Monday April 24, 2006 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born in McCormick, SC he was a son of the late James Monroe Sr. and Anna Goff Simpson.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a retired textile supervisor with Bloomsburg Mills and American Security. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors are: His wife Betty Davis Buffington Simpson of the home, 1 daughter Regina S. Young of Lexington, SC, 3 sons Kevin W. Simpson of Abbeville, SC James M. Simpson III of Fredericksburg, VA and Richard B. Simpson of Abbeville, SC, 3 sisiters Thelma S. Young and Bobbie S. Proctor of Greenwood, SC and Doris S. Smith of Abbeville, SC, 1 brother Richard A. Simpson of Abbeville, SC, 1 step-son David Buffington of Abbeville, SC and a step-daughter Nancy B. Anderson and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday April 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. with the Rev. Earl Hartley officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM Wednesday evening. The family is at the home of his son Mr. & Mrs, Kevin Simpson 649 Old Calhoun Falls Rd. Abbeville, SC.

Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church 505 W. Greenwood St. Abbeville, SC 29620 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646.
