James "Bull" Raymond Ashley

James Raymond "Bull" Ashley, 83, resident of 870 Hwy. 185 South husband of Helen Gambrell Ashley died Wednesday Sept. 26, 2007 at his home.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC he was a son of the late James Oscar and Edna Richey Ashley.

He was a retired decorated veteran of World War II US Army. He was a retired employee of Reigal textiles. He was also a member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife Helen Gambrell Ashley of the home; 1 son Albert Ashley and his wife Debbie of Donalds, SC; 1 daughter Jean A. Lynch and her husband Jason of Donalds, SC; 1 sister Eula Mae King of Honea Path, SC; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday Sept. 28, 2007 at 11:30 AM from the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Rev. John N. Miller, Jr. and Rev. Webster Curry officiating. The burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with military honors.

The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will recieve friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to services. The family is at the home 870 Hwy. 185 South Donalds, SC.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Hospice of the Piedmont 408 West Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646.
