J. Elizabeth "Bess" Wideman Simpson

J. Elizabeth Wideman Simpson, 87, formerly of Abbeville, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 at The Lowman Home in White Rock.

Born in McCormick, she was retired from Abbeville Mills and was a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are daughter, Dorothy S. Williams of Cayce; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of Henry P. "Dick" Simpson and the daughter of the late Samuel and Viola Spence Wideman. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Martha S. Hamilton and Margaret S. Warren; and a sister, Sue White.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lebanon Presbyterian Church; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the social hall of the church.
