Isabell Davis Sparks Carter, 89, resident of Abbeville Nursing Home, formerly of 52 Lewis St. Anderson, SC, wife of Walter Thomas Carter, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Abbeville Area Medical Center.
Born and raised in the Warrenton Community, she was a daughter of the late William Cape Davis and Macie Lou Wright Davis.
She was a retired Homemaker and devoted and loving mother. She attended Warrenton Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered as a precious wife, mother, sister and grandmother and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
Survivors are her husband, Walter Thomas Carter of the home; 1 son Doug Sparks and his wife Essie of Abbeville, SC; 1 daughter Melinda (Linda) Sparks Otto and her husband Bruce of Williamston, SC; 1 brother Gaines Davis of Abbeville, SC; 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was twice married, first to the late John R. Sparks. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Jean Graham and 5 brothers, Adrian, Joe, Marion, Wallace and Orr Davis and a sister Ray Burnette.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 4:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Findley, III officiating. The burial will follow in Warrenton Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family is at the home of her son Mr. & Mrs. Doug Sparks 999 Old Calhoun Falls Rd. Abbeville, SC.
The body is at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM Saturday afternoon prior to services.
Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Carter to Warrenton Presbyterian Church 191 Watts Rd. Abbeville, SC 29620.
