Harper Stevenson "Steve" Hagen III, 63, resident of 108 Kensington Dr. husband of Linda Bond Hagen passed away Tuesday Aug. 17, 2010 at his home.
He was born July 13, 1947, a son of Harper Stevenson Hagen, Jr. and Mary Alice Boyd Hagen.
Steve was a graduate of Abbeville High School and Erskine College Class of 1969. He also served in the SC National Guard. He coached Little League football and baseball and also enjoyed watching his son Matt play. Steve was especially fond of watching old movies and certainly the one's of his hero, the late John Wayne. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Steve retired from CSX Railroad as an Engineer with over 40 years of service. The love of his life was the running of trains. He will be remembered as a loving, wonderful husband and father and will be truly missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Bond Hagen of the home; a son Matthew "Matt" Hagen of the home; his parents, Harper and Mary Alice Boyd Hagen of Abbeville, SC; 2 sisters, Gina H. Stone and her husband, Frankie, of Abbeville, SC and Mary Carlton Hurt and her husband, Greg, of North Augusta, SC; his mother and father in law Mack and Jean Bond of Greenwood, SC.
He was preceded in death by a son Josh Hagen.
A celebration of Steve's life will be conducted Friday Aug. 20, 2010 at 3:00 PM in the chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM prior to services at the funeral home. The family is at the home 108 Kensington Dr. Greenwood, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Steve may be made to the Greenwood Humane Society PO Box 242 Greenwood, SC 29648 or to St. Mark United Methodist Church, Samaritan Fund, 550 Hwy. 72 By-Pass Greenwood, SC 29649.
