Gerald Roger Johnson

Gerald Roger Johnson, 86, resident of 979 Old Abbeville Hwy., widower of Amy Bagwell Johnson, passed away Saturday Sept. 16, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Woodruff, SC Feb 12, 1931, he was a son of the late George Harry Johnson and Cora Mae Powers Johnson.

Gerald was a United States Navy veteran. He worked as a weaver and fixer in Textile Mills before his retirement. He was a member of Gilgal United Methodist Church and also attended Grace United Methodist Church. Gerald was an active Master Mason and a member of the Clinton Lodge #3 AFM and just recently received his 60 year pin.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Johnson of Abbeville, SC; his companion, Julia Petty of the home; a brother, Lewis Johnson of Taylorsville, NC; a sister-in-law, Lee Keller of Fort Payne, Alabama; a grandson Adam; and he had multiple great, great- great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Johnson Porter.

A Celebration of Gerald's life will be conducted Thursday Sept. 21, 2017 at 3:00 PM in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jason Wilson officiating with Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends at the graveside following services.
