Georgia Adell Keasler Burriss

Georgia Adell Keasler Burriss, 89, resident of 102 Calhoun St. Abbeville, SC, widow of James Claude Burriss, passed away Friday Aug. 27, 2010 at Laurens County Hospital.

Born in Sandy Springs, SC, she was a daughter of the late George McDuff Keasler and Ada Campbell Keasler.

She was a graduate of Erskine College class of 1961 with a degree in Education. She was a retired School teacher having taught for over 24 years. She taught for many years at Sharon School. She was a loyal member of Abbeville First Baptist Church and a member of the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her loving caregivers Melvin and Louise Haskell and Fannie Lewis.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice Pursley and her husband, Harry, of Abbeville, SC; 2 sons, Don Burriss and his wife, Kathy, of Laurens, SC and Dr. Thomas Burriss and his wife, Andrea, of Belton, SC; 1 sister, Evelyn Olchowski of Pittsfield, MA; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday Aug. 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Abbeville First Baptist Church with the Rev.'s Kyle Antone and Thomas Smith officiating. A private family burial will follow in South Union Baptist Ch. Cemetery. The family is at the home of her daughter Mr. & Mrs. Harry Pursley 307 Wilewood Rd. Abbeville, SC.

The body is at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 AM Monday morning prior to services in the Family Life Center at the First Baptist Church.
