George became my dad when he married my mom nearly 30 years ago. My husband, Phillip, was close to George. Both shared a love of telling stories, drinking coffee, and smoking cigars. Our four children, Beth, Mark, Michelle, and Amy, loved George as the only grandpa they ever had. They enjoyed visiting George and Mom, and listening to his stories of working on the railroad. He and Mom, who had five kids, shared her 13 grandchildren, in addition to the grandchildren of his four children. We all grieve his loss and will miss him. Phillip died suddenly on February. I imagine the two of them are together in the afterlife, sharing coffee and good cigars.
