George Nichols Miller, 89, resident of 2074 Old Calhoun Falls Rd. passed away Tuesday Nov. 15, 2016 at his home.
Born in Pauline, SC he was a son of the late Stuart Miller and Virginia Morrow Miller.
George proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp having served aboard in the South Pacific.
He was the former owner and operator of Miller's One Stop for many years. He was also a life insurance salesman with Carolina Life Insurance Company. He retired as a prison guard with the South Carolina Correctional Institute Facility in McCormick, SC. Upon his retirement he spent his latter years of his life farming his land and caring for his cattle which brought him much joy. He was also fond of his animals. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include a son Gary Miller of Abbeville, SC; two daughters Barbara Rothwell (Ed) of Greenwood, SC and Georgeann Miller Nickles (Joe) of Donalds, SC; three sisters Eleanor Youngblood of Union, SC, Patricia Compass of Pauline, SC and Jane Waters of Newbern, NC; one brother W.L. Miller of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a special friend Hazel Shealy and caregivers Rachael and Mary Harvey and April Calhoun.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Janet Miller Bernie.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday Nov. 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Garrison officiating. The burial will follow in Cedar Springs ARP Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 Saturday morning at the funeral home prior to services.
