Rev. George Washington Harrison, 83, resident of 66 Harrison Rd. Abbeville, husband of Verbielee Argo Harrison, went to be with his Lord Wednesday Sept. 15, 2010 at his passing in the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.
Born in Aiken, SC, he was a son of the late Benjamin A. Harrison and Etta Williams Harrison.
He was a United States Navy veteran having been stationed on the USS John R. Craig. He was a retired Church of God minister having served churches in Abbeville and McCormick, SC. He worked for many years at Greenwood Christian School. He also served as a volunteer EMT with the Abbeville Rescue Squad. He was a loyal and faithful member of the Abbeville Church of God. He will be lovingly missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Verbielee Argo Harrison of the home; 4 sons, Wayne Harrison and his wife Mary of Abbeville, SC, Darrell Harrison and his wife Renee of Dade City, FL, Larry Harrison and his wife Pat of Verdery, SC and Keith Harrison and his wife Tammie of Greenwood, SC; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday Sept. 17, 2010 at 3:00 in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. s Verson Hodges and Richard Laster officiating. The burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery with Military Honors. The family is at the home 66 Harrison Rd. Abbeville, SC.
The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family received friends from 7:00 until 8:30 PM Thursday evening.
