Genevieve Smith McNeill

Genevieve Smith McNeill, 82, former residence of 1371 Mount Carmel Road died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Ruffin, SC, she was a homemaker and was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Anne Horton of Abbeville and Mary Smith of Austin, Texas; sons, James "Jimmy" McNeill Jr. of Woodstock, Ga., William Alfred McNeill of Chapin, John Ralph McNeill of Abbeville and Grady Oliver McNeill of Denver; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of James "Joe" McNeill Sr. and the daughter of the late James Postell and Ursie Lee Smith-Smith.

Services are at 4 p.m. Wednesday from Sharon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Todd Davis; burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Anne Horton, 1335 Mount Carmel Road, Abbeville.

The family suggests memorials be made to Sharon United Methodist Church, Sharon Church Road, Abbeville, S.C. 29620.

Ramey-Chandler Jackson Funeral Home, Saluda, is in charge of arrangements.
