Gary Campbell, a beloved member of the Nation community, has passed away peacefully at NHC Mauldin on December 13, 2023. Born on January 29, 1947, in Abbeville, SC, Gary was the son of the late Kistler Campbell and Verna McClain Campbell. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Scroggs Campbell, his sons Craig Campbell and David Campbell (Heather), his grandchildren Grant Campbell, Greyson Campbell, and Kaitlyn Campbell, as well as his great-grandchildren Connor Campbell and Crue Campbell. He is also survived by a niece Tammy Campbell Faulkner (Jimmy). Gary will also be fondly remembered by his many friends.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother Maxie Campbell. 

Throughout his life, Gary made a significant impact on those around him with his vibrant personality. He will be remembered as a very talented musician, particularly skilled on the steel guitar. His melodic tunes captivated audiences and brought joy to countless hearts. Gary's sense of humor was legendary among family and friends alike, always finding ways to bring laughter into every occasion.

Following his honorable service in the United States Navy as a Fireman, Gary received the National Defense Service Medal for his dedication and commitment. His time in the Navy helped shape him into the compassionate and selfless individual he was known to be.

In addition to music and service to his country, woodworking held a special place in Gary's heart. He had a remarkable talent for crafting beautiful furniture pieces that showcased his skillful craftsmanship. 

Though accomplished in various aspects of life, Gary's proudest accomplishments lay within the circle of his family. As a devoted husband to Brenda, a loving father to Craig and David, and loving grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren he poured his heart into creating meaningful memories together. The bond he shared with each member of his family radiated with an unwavering strength and love.

To honor Gary's life and pay tribute to his memory, a visitation will be held on December 16, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home in Abbeville, South Carolina. Following the visitation, a Funeral Service will take place at the same location at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Bells Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 2540 Flat Rock Rd., Abbeville, SC immediately after the funeral.

It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Gary Campbell. May his music continue to resonate in our hearts, his humor bring smiles to our faces, and his love inspire us to be better every day. Gary's legacy will forever remain etched in the minds and hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Memorials in honor of Gary may be made to the charity of one's choice.
