Gaines Clinton "Skip" Davis, Jr., 62, resident of 76 Long Cane Farm Drive husband of Phyllis Ellis Davis passed away Monday May 21, 2012 at MUSC in Charleston, SC.
Born Jan. 20, 1950 he was a son of Gaines Clinton Davis, Sr. and the late Lucille Payton Davis.
Skip served in the Army Reserve with the Military Police and was employed with the City of Abbeville. He worked a number of years with Springs Mills Industries as an Industrial Engineer. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church where he was a past Elder in the church. Skip will be remembered for his caring demeanor and his joyful smile by his loving family and many friends.
Survivors are: his beloved wife of 42 years Phyllis Ellis Davis of the home; his father Gaines C. Davis, Sr. of Abbeville, SC; 2 daughters Tammy Sutherland and Kerri Davis both of Abbeville, SC; a sister Rita D. Blue and her husband Jim of Huntsville, Alabama; a brother Edwin M. Davis and his wife Dee Ann of Abbeville, SC; 2 grandsons Kaleb Davis and Davis Sutherland.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday May 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM in New Hope Presbyterian Church with the Rev.'s Ed Kirkpatrick and John Fasteneau officiating. The burial will follow in Warrenton Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family is at the home 76 Long Cane Farm Drive Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening May 24, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie McNeill, Billy Lewis, Joe Oglesby, Brian McCarty, Jonathan Davis, David Hall, Matthew Ryan and Chris Ryan.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Pepsi Cola in Greenwood, SC.
