G. Oveline Stewart Gary King

Gladys Oveline Stewart Gary King, 89, resident of 720 Old Vienna Rd. widow of William T. King passed away Monday Jan. 29, 2018 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Six Mile, SC she was a daughter of the late Taylor H. Stewart and Sunie Medlin Stewart. She was twice married first to the late James Robert Gary.

Oveline was a retired textile employee with Abbeville Mills, Milliken Plant for over 47 years. She was a very active member of Abbeville First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Bible Study Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed working in her garden and with her flowers. She liked to travel as well.

Survivors include three sons Robert Wayne Gary (Cyndi) of Troy, SC and James Ronnie Gary (Beverly) of Greenwood, SC and Tommy Ray Gary (Jo Ann) of Ware Shoals, SC; step-daughter Susie K. New of Abbeville, SC; step daughter-in-law Wanda King of Abbeville, SC; two sisters Avanelle McCord of Belton, SC and Betty Woolbright Bogart, GA; twelve grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers Joe T. Stewart, James Stewart, Lewis Stewart, Samuel Stewart and David Stewart; four sisters Mary Moon, Lillian Todd, Leflesha Cox and Beatrice Brown.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday Feb. 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Abbeville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. John Keith officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family is at the home 720 Old Vienna Rd. Abbeville, SC 29620.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials in memory of Oveline may be made to the Abbeville First Baptist Church, Sanctuary Fund, PO Box 825 Abbeville, SC 29620.
