Franklin Chester Hawthorne

December 8, 1923 — June 29, 2008

Franklin Chester Hawthorne, 84, resident of 191 Hwy. 185 South, husband of Doris Ballentine Hawthorne, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 29, 2008 at The Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC, he was a son of the late Robert Weston and Mamie Bowie Hawthorne.

Mr. Hawthorne was a United States veteran with the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a retired Electrical Superintendent with Greenwood Mills. He was an active and loyal member of Greenville Presbyterian Church. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Doris Ballentine Hawthorne, of the home; 1 daughter, Susan H. Richardson, of Gaffney, SC; 1 son, Greg Hawthorne, of Greenwood, SC; 1 sister, Charlotte Hawthorne, of Due West, SC; 4 grandchildren, Chris and Terry Honeycutt, Renee Richardson and Heather Hawthorne; 3 great-grandchildren, Tristan Russell, McKenna Honeycutt and Cashton Benge.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be conducted Tuesday July 1st, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Greenville Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Jonathan Bowling and Rev. Dr. George Wilson. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Tuesday July 1, 2008 from 11:00 until 12:00 PM in the social hall of Greenville Presbyterian Church prior to services. The family is at the home 191 Hwy. 185 South.
