Franklin Creswell

Franklin Creswell, age 86, passed away in his sleep July 6 2024 at Bowlingreen Health and Rehabilitation in Macon, GA. Franklin was born April 11, 1938 in Lumberton, N.C. at Archie Hartman Chandler. In May 1939 his mother placed him up for adoption because she could not afford the necessities of life. He was adopted by Amos and Minnie Lee Creswell of Abbeville, S.C. that same month, with the adoption becoming final June 1, 1940. Franklin was a 1956 graduate of Abbeville High School. Following graduation he went to work for Abbeville Mills, a part of the Milliken Corporation. He remained as their employ until 1974. In January 1959 Franklin married Martha Ann Joyce Barnes of Augusta, GA. In December 1959 they welcomed their first child, Charles Franklin. In 1960 Abbeville Mills offered a college scholarship to a deserving employee. Franklin applied for and won the scholarship. He would never be a full-time college student though. He had to work third shift in the mill and attend classes during the day. While he was in school he and Martha welcomed 2 additional children Gregory Stephen in July 1962 and Bradley Dewayne in October 1963. After leaving the textile industry, Franklin embarked on a successful Real Estate career. Becoming a member of the Million Dollar Club in both residential and commercial sales. Franklin was a licensed minister with the Congregational Holiness church for 59 years, first receiving license in 1965. He held many positions within the greater Church organization, including District Youth Director, General Youth Director, Men’s Ministry Director and Royal Ranger Commander.

Franklin is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha Creswell also of Bolingreen Health and Rehabilitation. Three sons Charles (Donna) Creswell of Barnesville, GA, Gregg Creswell of Winter Garden, FL, and Dewayne (Jodie) Creswell of Hamilton, GA. Nine grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Sister in law Mary Holloway of Augusta, GA. Cousins Don (Carolyn) Going of Ninety Six, S.C. and Gail Carroll of Valdosta, GA. Many nieces and nephews.
