Florence Bouknight Murphy

Florence Bouknight Murphy, 101, resident of Abbeville Nursing Home widow of Watson B. Murphy passed away Wednesday March 26, 2008 at the nursing home.

Born in Irmo, SC she was a daughter of the late Charley Howard and Josephine Riddle Bouknight.

She was a graduate of Chicora College in Columbia, SC with a Degree in Music. She was a retired homemaker and church organist for Friendship Baptist Church for many years. She was very active in church and community activities. She affectingly sang in the local nursing home every Thursday morning with the Rhythm Band. She was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include 3 sons Watson B. Murphy and his wife Harriett of Salisbury, NC, Charles B. Murphy and his wife Nancy of Abbeville, SC and James F. Murphy and his wife Irene of Greenwood, SC; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Frank C. Bouknight and M. Alex Bouknight.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Home PO Box 1178 Greenwood, SC 29646 or to a charity of one's choice.
